When appropriate, the WCTE Board creates resolutions and position statements addressing topics of concern in the State of Wisconsin and across the nation.

In light of recent activity across Wisconsin at the community, school board, and/or district level to restrict the teaching of literature which speaks to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Wisconsin Council of Teachers of English resolves:

While WCTE understands the challenges administrators face with hiring qualified teachers across the state, we have strong reservations regarding some of the proposed changes to ELA licensure.

The Wisconsin Council of Teachers of English strongly opposes Governor Walker’s plan to strip Wisconsin public workers of their collective bargaining rights.
